April - May 2004 - PHOTO : PERSPECTIVES ON
POVERTY
| People may be poor, but their artistic life is rich at
Mlabri village in Phrae province – a real perspective on
poverty. | |

Despite the number of
participants, there was ample time for individual
instruction. | |

| While everybody took great care of their equipment during
the course, this Cambodian participant was equally worried
about his shoes as he prepared to wade into a garbage dump in
Hot, Chiang Mai, to photograph
scavengers. | |
| One participant preparing his final offerings with great
care. During numerous field trips, he and his colleagues had
seen slums, street children, AIDS patients, displaced nomads,
commercialized hill tribes and life amidst toxic
waste. | |
|
| Alun John presents a gift to his co-trainer Mikel Flamm on the latter's birthday. It
was one of the lighter moments during the intensive
training. |
|
| Sarah McLean, the IMMF’s Project Director, shows course
photos to distinguished guests HE Jan Axel Nordlander, the
Swedish Ambassador, and Dr Suvit Yodmanee at the graduation
ceremony. | |

| Trainers, participants and IMMF members pose for a group
photo after three weeks’ training in Bangkok and Chiang
Mai. | |
